Raise your hand if you’ve ever wanted to make your own BBQ marinade?  Yes?  Or is it just me?  I see all the varieties of BBQ marinade sauces in the grocery store and think to myself ‘I can do that’.  Or make something even better.  But I’ve never really had the motivation to do so.  Until now.  This recipe comes courtesy of the monthly Recipe Swap Club.  I’m really enjoying making recipes from other people’s blogs, and having them make recipes from here.  It’s helping me to challenge myself … and also see what other bloggers are doing on their sites (shhh, I’m not really spying on them!!).

This month I was given The Olive Blogger (full website here) and had a great time looking at all the recipes Melissa has put together.  Now, with my special snowflake dietary requirements, I still haven’t gotten up the courage to try desserts from someone else.  I guess I’m a little worried if I change things around too much.  But then I look back at the recipes that I have made as part of the recipe swap – Irish Stew (from Recipe Roadtest) , Harvest Vegetable Beef Stew (from FizlDizl), Cilantro Lime Salmon (from Simply Made Recipes) and now these Marinated BBQ Pork Chops.  And I’ve realized I’ve changed every single one of them, even just a little bit.  I hope you guys don’t mind!

I stuck pretty much to the original recipe (see here) but changed a few ingredients to make it more Paleo friendly – although there is still some sugar in the marinade, it’s coconut sugar and maple syrup, instead of brown sugar and honey.  And I switched out the soy sauce for coconut aminos.  But my family (the ultimate taste test), absolutely loved the taste.  And asked for more.  So I’m more than willing to share this recipe with you all, as I’m sure I’ll be making it again and again.

And please try this if you’re ever stuck for a different tasting BBQ marinade.  It’s got all the ingredients necessary to make your taste-buds go ‘wow’!
