My ALL TIME favourite chocolate peanut butter slice at the moment – I just can’t get enough of it. This doesn’t last in our house much longer than a day or two, which is why I often will only make a half-batch. Because I know I will eat it, and continue eating it. This was from allrecipes.com – looking for no-bake slices. The photo shows that I didn’t quite mix in the icing sugar enough – the peanut butter part of it is quite dry and I just didn’t have the elbow muscles to get it thoroughly blended. Still tastes good, though!
This is my favourite, until I find a recipe with the texture and taste that I have in my head … (see here for a contender!)
Chocolate peanut butter slice
Ingredients
- 125 g butter
- 1/2 cup 90g packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
- 2 cups 500g peanut butter
- 2 1/2 cups 500g icing sugar
- 2 cups 360g dark chocolate chips
Instructions
-
Melt butter over low heat. Add sugars, peanut butter and vanilla. Mix well.
-
Press into a 23 x 33 cm tin.
-
Melt chocolate chips and spread over the top. Cool. Cut into squares.
Suggestions:
- If you put the melted chocolate on the bottom of the pan (or in muffin tins) then the peanut butter part on top, it’s almost like a Reece’s peanut butter cup.
- I’ve also topped the slice (with chocolate on the bottom) with white chocolate fudge using this recipe – that was divine!
- I’ve tried to make this into my ultimate slice, by cooking the flourless peanut butter cookies and processing with some melted butter for the base. I don’t think I used enough butter as it was too crumbly, but very tasty, nonetheless.
Hi Sarah, I tried this recipie out on the weekend…yum! I mixed the melted butter with the sugar first and then added the peanut butter and it seemed to blend together nicely, taking some to my grad cert class tonight to share with classmates.
Cheers
